BMP to JPG Converter

It is an image conversion tool used to convert BMP (Bitmap) files to JPG also referred to as JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). BMP is a standard image file format that is used by computers to run the Windows Operating System (OS). This image format is commonly referred to as the Bitmap files. In the early years, any image that was saved on a PC used to be saved as a .bhp file. However, it has become obsolete in the modern era with the advent of digital cameras as most of them prefer the .jpeg file format.

The JPG formats are mostly used for emails and websites due to their smaller file sizes. As a result, same image quality is likely to get lost in the process of compressing and saving the JPG file. The JPG format is often used in digital camera memory cards and the resultant ‘lossy' file means that the quality can never be recovered.

How to convert BMP (Bitmap) to JPG (JPEG)

The first step is to select a BMP file by clicking the "Open BMP Image" icon. It can either be in different file formats such as *.bmp, *.dib

Once you have chosen the file, this calculator will automatically convert the image in the process.

Afterwards, click the "Save as JPG" icon which downloads the new JPG file into your computer. You can access it in download folder or from the history in your web browser.

If the upload takes a very long time to upload the file, please attempt to cancel and submit the file again. You can also select files from Google Drive, URL or Dropbox by dragging it to the page. The file extensions of the JPG can either be .jpg or .jpeg and the compression method will be a bit lossy depending on the discrete cosine transform (DCT).
