BTU/hr to Tons Converter
BTU/hr to Refrigeration Tons Conversion
It is a conversion calculator that is used to convert the power in BTU per hr (BTU/hr) to power in refrigeration tons (RT). The first procedure when using this converter is to enter the value of BTU per hr in the blank text field.
Click the ‘Control' button to initiate the conversion from BTU per hr to refrigeration tons. The results will be displayed below the two controls at the bottom platform of the calculator. The ‘Reset' button is used to erase all data of previous calculations from the converter.
The converter's efficiency is enhanced by the ‘Reset' button since it can only perform one conversion at a time. It reduces the time needed to carry out new conversions.
Example
Convert 400 BTU/hr to the power in refrigeration tons
Solution
First, enter the value in BTU/hr (400) in the blank text field. Initiate the conversion by clicking the ‘Convert' button. The result in refrigeration tons will be displayed as; 0.033333333333 RT
Click the ‘Reset' button if you have a new value in BTU/hr, and enter the value in the blank text field. Use the same procedure to obtain the corresponding results in refrigeration tons.
Formula used in converting BTU/hr to refrigeration tons
1 RT = 12000 BTU:
One refrigeration ton is equivalent to 12000 BTUs per hour.
1 BTU/hr = 8.33333 x 10-5 RT:
One BTU per hour is equivalent to 8.33333×10-5 refrigeration ton
Therefore, the power conversion formula of BTU/hr to refrigeration tons is given by;
P (RT) = P (BTU/hr) / 12000
This implies that the power in refrigeration tons is given by dividing the power in BTU/hr by 12000.
Using the example above,
Convert 400 mechanical BTU/hr to the power in refrigeration tons
The calculation will be;
P (RT) = 400 BTU/hr / 12000
= 0.033333333 R
