Fahrenheit to Celsius Conversion

This is a conversion tool that is used to convert degrees Fahrenheit (°F) to degrees Celsius (°C). The ‘Convert' and ‘Reset' buttons are the active controls that work independently in executing different functions of the calculator. The first procedure is to enter the temperature value in the blank text field. Initiate the conversion by clicking the ‘Convert' button. The results will be displayed immediately below the two controls.

If you want to carry out new calculations, use the ‘Reset' button to readjust the calculator. It is the fastest way of erasing the previous conversions from the conversion tool. The method of the calculation will be highlighted at the bottom panel of the calculator below the result in degrees Celsius. If your values are in degrees Celsius you will use the Celsius to Fahrenheit calculator.

Example

Convert 24 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius

Solution

Enter the value 24 in the blank text field and then click the ‘Conversion' button. The result will be shown as -4.44 °C below the two controls

Calculation

(24°F-32) × 5/9

= -4.4444444444°C

Formula used in converting Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius

0 °F = -17.77778 °C is the standard principle used by the calculator to convert degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius. Therefore, it means that zero degrees Fahrenheit is equivalent to -17.77778 degrees Celsius.

T (°C) = (T (°F) – 32) x 5/9 is the method used by the conversion tool in determining the conversion results. It implies that the temperature in degrees Celsius is computed by subtracting 32 from the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit and then multiplied by 5/9.

Using the above example, the calculation will be shown as;

T (°C) = (T (°F) -32) x 5/9 = -4.4444444444°C

Or

T (°C) = (T (°F) -32) / 9/5 = -4.4444444444°C

Or

T (°C) = (T (°F) -32) / 1.8 = -4.4444444444°C
