Stopwatch
A stopwatch is a timepiece that is purposely designed to measure the amount of elapsed time during the duration in which it was activated. A stopwatch is quite different from a countdown timer because of the mode of operation. A countdown timer usually counts backward from the period of time set in its interface. A stopwatch will start counting from one second up to the amount of time you need it to stop. The online stopwatch has four sets of the button that execute independent actions. It is partitioned into four sections; Days, hours, minutes and seconds. To activate the stopwatch, click the “Start” button.
It commences immediately upon the activation of the button. There are moments when you want to time different occurrence of events at the same time. We use the “Split” button to separate the time periods starting from the first event till the end. The “Stop” button is used to pause the stopwatch and is useful when you want to pause the time count. To record new events, we use the “Reset” button to readjust the stopwatch. There are different types of stopwatches and some are currently available on mobile phones, watches and other handheld devices.
A stopwatch is often used by athletes during their training when they want to determine how fast they can be on a single or several plays. E.g. running, weight lifting, racing, and other sporting activities. The fully automatic time stopwatches have sensors that trigger the starting and stopping automatically. For the manual timing, you will stop the stopwatch by pressing a button i.e. (Stop or Reset). There are mechanical stopwatches that are powered by a mainspring that is wound up occasionally by turning the knurled knob situated at the top. The digital electronic stopwatches are considered to be more accurate timepieces due to their crystal oscillator timing element.
They are also programmed with date and time-of-day functions due to the inserted microchip. Other stopwatches are triggered by external events because they have a connector for external sensors. This allows it to measure the elapsed time more accurately than pressing the buttons manually with one finger. Reading a stopwatch is another challenge that most individuals have when splitting time or recording the elapsed time. This will also depend on the type of stopwatch you are using to determine the amount of time that has elapsed from a particular activity.
