Watts to kWh Calculator
Watts to kWh Calculator
It is used to convert the electric power in watts (W) to energy in Kilowatt hours (kWh). The Kilowatt hour unit cannot be converted to watts directly because of the difference in their quantities.It is always important to fill in all the required text fields for the calculation to be successful. This calculator is simple to use and convenient because of its flexibility.
You can start by entering the power in watts and the time in hours in the first and second cells respectively. Afterward, you can press the ‘Calculate' button to execute the conversion which gives you the results in Kilowatts hours. It is commonly displayed on the platform under the ‘Calculate' and ‘Reset' controls.
Formula of converting watts to Kilowatt hours
E (kWh) = P (W) x t (hr.) / 1000, which means that the energy in Kilowatt hour is computed by multiplying the power in watts by the time in seconds then the result is multiplied by 1000.It can also be expressed as;
Kilowatt hour = watt x hour / 1000 or kWh = W x hr. / 1000
For example,
If the power consumption is 6500 watts and takes a duration of 5 hours, what is the energy consumption in Kilowatt hours?Solution
E (kWh) = P (W) x t (hr.) / 1000= 6500 W x 5 hrs. / 1000 = 32.5kWh
This calculator only converts the values in watts to Kilowatt hours and not the reverse. It is important to be keen when entering the values in their respective text fields.
The reason is that the accuracy of the results would depend on the units used in the input. If you need to perform new calculations, you can always use the ‘Reset' button which erases the previous calculations at once.
This calculator was designed to offer both speed and accuracy and can always be accessed at any time.
